Folks,
I need your help, when trying to perform a backup of multiple servers, I get a backup incomplete, and the following error messages appear in the activity log.

E8602 Failed to Read from Database, (DBNAME=master,EC=Backup Agent Error- (127) "Error at Virtual Device set.
W3422 Unable to save registry key (key = software,EC=disk full)
W3404 Unable to Open file (file=\\PDC02\c$\WINNT\system32\config\software,EC=sharing violation
W3404 Unable to Open file (file=\\PDC02\c$\WINNT\system32
\dhcp\;5000435 log,EC=file not found

I am fairly new to Arcserve, and I have noticed a number off issue's of similar circumstances and they refer to filters with the client agent. Would that assist me in the above named problems ?, if so, what exactly are the steps involved in setting up the filters ?
Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

For 127 error read the FAQ writeen by me in
" Computer Associates: BrightStor back-up solutions "

That will fix your problem...

Choose the use lock mode if deny write fails in the backup option / Retry Tab...

Run a dynamic backup ( Full green in the server box )

I changed the settings from Open file "Deny None", to "Use Lock Mode if Deny write fails", now the activity log is peppered with E4306 error's, stating that: Unable to read file EC=Lock Violation

Any other idea's, sorry ?

Basically the files involved are in the system32 folder on a remote server (PDC), they're are multiple files, but they all reside in the system 32 folder.
Hope this helps...

Thanks

Looking at your first update you are trying to backup DHCP..
As far i know arcserve dont support DHCP & WINS ....

YOu have to exclude the files ....

The DNS on the network is Active Directory Integrated, I therefore removed the need to backup the registry on the DC in question, and just backed up the System state on the Production server.
Backup completed sucessfully.

Thanks for all your help....

This is concerning: W3422 Unable to save registry key (key = software,EC=disk full)

Also, if the entire machine is selected (My Computer is not half-shaded), the registry key details _will_not_ be backed up, as long as the checkbox in AS Server Admin is check to not backup registry key details.

Search this forum for Perflib for more information on sharing violations.

For the error 127, if you are trying to back up a SQL database that is not local, then you may want to try backing up by using the Preferred Shares/Machines option. Also make sure you have the latest patches.
