I can't find anything to "gen failure". It looks like the 3404 is a sharing violation but nothing else. The amount of files being missed is getting larger or so it seems!
Cheers!!

I am getting the following error No 3407 unable to write to file
c:\Arcserveit\temp\bck133F.tmp

It keeps dropping down the space on the server now it is just 7.85mb free on C:\ on the server.

It has not worked for over four weeks

really desperate

bobloblaw,

GEN FAILURE is Generic Failure, just arcserves way of saying "No Hope". Shut down your anti virus software for this job to work.

7.85mb!!!!! you need more space than that, arcserves database [standard] can reach 1.6 gig. c:\Arcserveit\temp\bck133F.tmp
This is arcserve trying to collect database information during the job so it can update\merge the database details. My advise id to uninstall arcserve and put it on a serious size partition.
