I configured the time service (net time /setsntp: )on a domain controller which held the pdc role to point to external
sntp server.
For some reason,I had to move the pdc role to another domain controller and i keep getting the w32time error on that domain controller .How do I resolve this problem. I know I have to reconfigure the time service on the new domain controller which now holds the pdc role but my problem is how do I remove the entries done of the first domain controller which not holding the pdc role without going through the registry

Simply set the first server to use the other DC. Execute the same command as you did before but change the IP to be that of the DC rather than the Internet Time Server.

FOr the new PDC Emulator, make sure that you have opened up port 123 on your firewall as that is the port used by the time service to check in with the authoritative server on the Internet.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
