w2kpro shutdown problem

After upgrading w2kpro on srvcpk2 and directX 8.0
Windows will not shut down but will go in to permanent suspend mode with no way to reboot it, but only power it down!
Same thing happened to me on my Desktop and on my Notebook.
Need help.

Go to the control panel, go to Power Options. Under Hybernate support uncheck that box. I am unsure if that is what is causing it but it sounds similar. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.

Under power schemes in the power options control panel what is the typical role of your PC? Also do you use Power Management? If not I suggest turning it off in the BIOS. I had the same problem after installing DirectX 8.0. Remove DirektX 8.0 and replace it with an earlier version. Maybe you have to reinstall (upgrade) win2k.

I think it's got SOMETHING to do with the combination BIOS and APM, not sure, worth checking it out

YES IT WORKS NOW, just tried it, and when you select APM, my computer SHUTS DOWN AGAIN!!!!!!

Also, for other people who will read this, but the boot problem is still there, there is also another thing that will cause this.

BE AWARE OF THE --EASY CD CREATOR-- UPDATES. The 4.05 version will cause your computer not to reboot or shut down. Uninstall it, it will fix it.
