We wrote a macro to print multiple impromptu reports - with prompts. It works fine manually. It works fine with windows 2000 scheduler when the user is logged on. However, when the user is logged off, the win2k scheduler will not run the macro unattended during offhours. Help - how do we change permissions or otherwise reconfigure some gizmo (the latest Oracle approved Oraclespeak tech word) in win2k so the win2k scheduler will run the macro nattended?

BTW - I am told the same problem exists with NT with the AT command but have not personally tested it.

So far our workaround is to logon to the machine and leave the logon unattended overnite, but invoke a password protected screensaver.

This is a quote from "Mastering Windows NT Server 4" by Mark Minasi.

"Note that the Schedule service, by default, logs on under the system account, the same account used by most services. Under these circumstances, the AT command can only access those resources that allow Guest access, which may not provide enough access for the desired activity. To gain greater access ... you need to create a special user account, give it the appropriate access, then configure the Schedule service to log on using that special account. Make sure you select the Password Never Expires option when you create the account."

Hope this helps!

Hello,
there is a solution to launch your job without any user connected to your station or server.

You have to run DCOMCNFG.EXE. In the windows Default Security, default Access, click on Edit Default. Then Add the user who has to launch your job.

After that, it will be OK.
