Hi,

I used to know a method of running an alternate boot screen before the MS screen that would let you choose to boot into W2K or directly into the repair console. Can anyone refresh my memory? I had it written down, but I am getting old now....

spargel33,

To install the Recovery Console as a startup option with Windows running:
1.)Insert the Windows 2000 Professional CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2.)Click No when prompted to upgrade to Windows 2000.
3.)At the command prompt, switch to your CD-ROM drive, and then type the following:

\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

4.)Follow the instructions on the screen.

If your computer will not start, you can run the Recovery Console from the Windows 2000 Professional CD (if you have a bootable CD-ROM drive) or the Setup disks.

Let Me Know!
