I have w2k installed and dial up configured for isp connetion
I have been able to connect but can't get to any urls
keeps getting cannot find page error.

It has worked, but never more than a few minutes.

Any help would be appreciated
tried reinstalling modem driver
removed internet files and history. suggestion from isp.
created several new dialup connections.

calls to isp resulted in 'no support for 2000 pro.

can see ip assigned, BUT cannot ping anything.
get time out on all attempts.

When you are connected, can you ping an IP address instead of a URL? Matt Wray

First verify your modems working by trying to ping your loopback ( " PING 127.0.0.1 " )

If that works fine it also means you have a IP but you still need to run " NETSTAT "( use the command line ) & see if you have been leased an IP( one from your ISP, not the ones randomley generated by 2000), & be sure to have DHCP enabled under your network propertys( specifically under TCP/IP ). Im assuming your ISP is using DHCP, If it were static you would know. If Netstat reveals no IP Addr( or a Win2000 generated one), then type " IPCONFIG /RENEW " It will take it a few minutes ( depending on you connection & ISP ). Afterwards you can confirm being leased an IP address by running typing " NETSTAT " again.

You shouldn't have to reboot, but it shouldnt hurt either.

Be sure to check you Browser properties & make sure it is set to automatically detect your DNS. If the IP Addr is not the issue Then having your Browser not set to Automatically detecting DNS may be your problem.

goodluck.
