w2000 user limit

I should have stated that differently. It's not a problem. There's just something connected you are unaware of. Look into concurrent connections for more information. You can skip the netstat -an and just go netstat as well..either way - it's not going to list everything that could be taking the connection.
Are you running IIS on this box? Each user can eat 2-3 connections at a time leaving you with only 3-4 actual "users" connected at a time. It doesn't mean that each PC only makes 1 connection no matter how many requests are taken..they all count towards the limit of 10.
If you're at 10 - you should really be using an NT server or 2K server just to get rid of the headache.
The only way something would change it to 9 is if you or another admin knowingly changed this limit to 10 - you can check that on your share permissions. Otherwise - it's normal, and there's something you are unaware of connecting.
Try unsharing your folder, and reestablishing it to see how many are connected to your share..reboot your box..have the remote users reboot theirs 1-by-1 and see how it affects it, etc.

Have you checked the properties for the shared folders? I don't know why you'de want to limit the number of users, but on the sharing tab, that's where you set the number of users. Or did you do that already, but only nine people can get on. Try bumping the number of users up. Good Luck. Glen A. Johnson
