VWIC card not seen on 1841 router

Good morning. I recently ordered a 1-port VWIC MFT T1 card for a T1 line that was installed in our building. I know that the 1841 will only support data applications with this particular card and that's fine; there are no plans for voice over this connection.

Whenever I install the card into the router, it does not power up upon router boot. No indicator lights or anything. In addition, the card is not listed as an available interface in either the CLI or GUI configuration.

I've installed this card in both the s0 and s1 expansion slots on two different 1841 routers with no success.

Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More and likely you have not programmed the card type...

example: Card type T1 0 1

Afternoon all.

I'm much the novice when it comes to configuring WAN connections of this type so please bear with me.

I was able to get the controller working using the "card type t1 0 1" command listed above. I have the configuration information from our provider on what the configuration should be on our end. Based on what I can glean from that plus the information I've found online I've managed to configure the line coding and framing as specified by our provider. However, I'm at a loss as to how to proceed from here. The CLI help isn't much in the way of being helpful heh.

I'm not one to be spoonfed directions as I find it much more educational to read the information on my own. However, does anyone know of any documentation that details how to configure a Cisco T1 card? Most of the information I've found so far has been lacking at best.

What are you using the router for? Point-to-Point, internet, frame-relay, etc etc.

What is the config (hide the ip addresses) that the telco has given you, i.e. ppp, line coding, framing, full or fractional, etc.

Here are the line configuration details as given to me by our provider:

Configuration Details:
IP Classless: in global configuration
LBO: 0.0 (If cat5 cable < 50 ft. (default in most units), if > next setting (7.5))
Line Coding: B8ZS (Bipolar 8 zeroes substitution)
Net Signal: ESF (Extended Super Frame)
Port Base Rate: 64K (1 ch = 56K or 64K each channel)

Equipment Information:
Timing: Net (from Network)
Encapsulation: PPP
Routing Protocol: Static
Port Speed: 1544

WAN Link Details:
WAN Link IP Address: (address here)
AR Serial INT IP Address: (address here)
CR Serial INT IP Address: (address here)
WAN Link Subnet Mask: /30

There's also a section for LAN information that I gather is what I configure on my end? Please bear with me as I've never setup a T1 line before .

Do you have a firewall? Are you using network address translation (NAT)?

We don't have any hosts setup on this particular network yet so no firewall is in place. I'll be setting up PAT shortly after the line is configured and running.
