VWIC Card Basic Configuration

Someone can help me to activate a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 on Cisco 2801 with IOS ver 12.4(1c) and SDM ver 2.3.1?

The problem is:
1. If I try to configure via SDM, the card is "UNRECOGNIZED BY SDM".
2. When I access via CLI and run the "Show Interface" command, the VWIC card is not displayed.

I tried changing the slot and using 2 different VWIC cards and is the same status. I checked the hardware compatibility and it's OK. I found some configuration examples on CISCO Web Page but the commands are not recognized, i.e "controller" isn't recognized by CISCO2801.

I requested support from CISCO but I need to have a Service Contract.

Also, you might want to get an newer version of the IOS as well... Even though the 12.4 should work.

I see a minimum IOS requirement of 12.4(11)XW...

-slaps forehead- LOL That is hilarious I that of all things I forgot about that, I went around and around one day a couple of years ago with this same thing, and in the end I had to set the card type =) Sorry, maybe this just the situation that pushes me to start that journal everyone keeps telling me to do =/

I was going to suggest that, but I thought you only had to do that on the version one cards...

Hi guys the problem has been fixed following your recommendations.

The VWIC2 card was activated via CLI using the command
card type {e1 | t1} slot subslot.

The SDM software doesn't support the VWIC2 cards and all config must be done via CLI.
