I run a cloud backup program IDrive, unfortunately after each scheduled backup, an entry in Event Viewer will show up if I have any of the files or programs that I have set to be backed up are opened at the time of backup:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: VSS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 12293
Date: 7/2/2012
Time: 1:30:36 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BM
Description:
Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on the Shadow Copy Provider {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}. Routine details IVssSnapshotProvider::IsVolumeSupported() failed with 0x8000ffff [hr = 0x8000ffff].
I have run Chkdsk /r thinking that there may be a hard drive issue...nope.
I've tried to re-register some of the files associated with Volume Backup.
I've followed a few suggestions to delete certain registry entries that may have become corrupted.
I've made sure that VSS service is set to automatic and started and MS Shadow copy is not disabled. All with no change.
I also run Norton Ghost each day, but it doesn't trigger an event error at all.
Any suggestions at this point is appreciated.
