Could someone tell me how to get around this error message? My backups just recently started failing due to this error. I have never used VSS Enabler and do not really know what it is. Any help or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

VSS is a Microsoft feature pointing to Virtual Shadow Copies. It is enabled in NW by default but you may disable it.

For the NetWorker client setup, search the edit field "save operations" and enter "VSS:*=off".

That's it.

which version of 7.x will this be a default installation?

Sorry I have cut my preious post short... the reason I'm asking is we're rolling out 7.2.1 to the Windows clients.

I am currently running 7.2.1 Build 311. Is this the most current version? Thanks!

You should use version 7.2.1
with security patch LGTpa83990 = build 314

You can disable the VSS option with
Networker Change Journal Manager
(Uncheck "Networker uses change journal")

To my knowledge, VSS does not have anything in common with MS's Change Journal.

In reference to the Patch:

You should use version 7.2.1
with security patch LGTpa83990 = build 314

Can someone please tell me how to get it downloaded? I have tried several times on the Legato website, but keep getting a pop-up box that tells me there is no data for the link I click on. Thanks in advance!

I successfully downloaded the 7.2.1 with patch from this link:
ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/NetWorker/Updates/LGTpa83990/721

Please note that the *ja.exe file is the japaneese version,
and the *ncw* are ZIP files supplied with wizards

Check your firewall if you can't download it.

No luck! Keep getting dialog box that says "The document contains no data". Thanks anyway, but I'm going to have to contact EMC/Legato for support I think.
