VSS doesnt work

When ever I go into the drive properties and the windows shadow copy tab I don’t see any dates. I have it enabled and the service is started. When ever I try and start the scheduled task manually it states "Could not start".

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t resolve issue.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Do you receive any error messages in the event log?

Event log states

Event ID 7035
Volume Shadow Copy service was successfully sent a start control.

then a second later

Event ID 7036
The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the running state.

then 3 minutes later

Event ID 7036
The Volume shadow copy service entered the stopped state.

But no new date populates the VSS tab on the drive properties.

I know this might be a silly question but are your shares in place on the volume and has any data changed since you last created a copy?

Yes there are about 12 shares on this partition. With about 20GB of data on these shares. All users are using these shares so data is changed quite frequently.
