I have a master web application on my Server machine. That
machine have both IIS and VSS. Now when i try to add
source safe control to interdev (through project -- >
source safe -- > Add source control), i get an error

"Cannot establish source control on the web application.
The server does not have a source control system installed
on it, or the user name is not recognized"

Now i am logged in as administrator on the machine. I even
tried adding administrator to the VSS database with the
original password but still that didn't help

Can any body help
.

Ensure that Front Page server extensions are installed on the server.

Source Safe integration is a bit of a black art. By the time you have got it working you will not be able to recall all of the tweeks that were needed.

There are plenty of resources on Microsoft msdn:
(Content Management)

I have client VSS on another machine.
When i try to add VSS from there it adds it successfully. Its strange. Do you think that it should happen.

if i have two databases created on my server machine program files/Visual source safe/VSS/srcsafe.ini and DriveName:\Vss\srcsafe.ini which would be the default when user is adding it from his machine. Is there any reg entry for them.

I have the same problem:

"Cannot establish source control on the web application.
The server does not have a source control system installed
on it, or the user name is not recognized"
