VSP snapshot temp file

I'm using NB5.0 MP1 to backup some Windows based clients. I toyed around with the VSP settings instead of using the defaults, and noticed when backups ran a temp snapshot file was placed on the client during backups, and deleted itself after the backups.

The documentation suggests using the deault settings, so I reverted back to them. When I perform backups with or without default settings, they appear to function the same. However, when I use the default settings, there is never a temp file created. Should there be on the client? I would assume there should be, but instead the software define the size instead of the customized configuration.

Is there any way to confirm VSP is really being used?

Enable NetBackup login (create the directories in

C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\logs) on the client and

set a high log level also on the client)


2. Do a backup


3. Study the logfile (on the client) in the directory

C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\logs\BPBKAR\123456.LOG


You should see something like that:
