Quick Question.
I have a VRU that we are testing (not a conversant).
I plan on using our carrier 800 trunks inbound and then do a tie T-1 to the VRU (not-ISDN PRI). My main goal is to just get it to the VRU and have the VRU answer.
I am getting the calls to Tie trunk group and it siezes a channel, but it is dead air. The calls don't disconnect and stay up, but dead air. Below is the list trace of the
TAC for intepretation:

How is the DS1 setup?

Are you getting good T-1 connection?

trunk group is up and channels are idle.
here is the DS1 config:

display ds1 02a12 DS1 CIRCUIT PACK

Location: 02A12 Name: VRU TEST
Bit Rate: 1.544 Line Coding: ami-zcs
Line Compensation: 1 Framing Mode: d4
Signaling Mode: robbed-bit

Idle Code: 11111111

phonegoober,

seems to me that your call is delivered to vru but it's not responding. could you check it on the vru side?
also, it's not much good to connect vru via trunk. here is the explanation why.

You may want to consider configuring this as a line-side T-1, where the ports on the T-1 are assigned station numbers. You don't need udp or other entries. assign the station as set type 'DS1FD'. You can put them in a hunt group or if your switch has EAS you can build them with Agent IDs.

I'm trying to figure out what the benefit is of going through the switch, rather than just terminating the network T-1 directly to the VRU.

4merAvaya,

there are three main benefits: first, control over ivr resource usage, second, ability to integrate it more tightly with a call center (using cti if needed), and last but not least -- statistical data. you can't tell cms to collect data directly from vru.

I would agree that the use of the station setup as type "DS1FD". And if you have Expert Agent, you could assign agents to thoe stations. At least that is how we do it, and it works well.

Ok. Thanks.

I assigned the stations as DS1FD.
Created a Hunt with EAS
Created an Agent ID with the above Hunt. Also input the station i used of the DS1FD in the agent field.

still can't the agent to login the still. Does not show logged in.

thoughts?

thx

phonegoober,

do a status station and check if it is in-service/on-hook. if it is not, probably you have incorrect ds1 configuration. doing a test board on this ds1 wouldn't hurt either.

dwalin,

the station is in-service-on hook.
problem is i am not getting any help from the VRU vendor at all. it's an older product line. The VRU works with a discreet T-1 from another carrier plugged in it.

phonegoober,

did you try to call one of these extensions directly? does vru respond? if not, maybe there's some incompatibility in t1 settings, or maybe vru side is misconfigured. this ds1fd type station technique works when the vru side is configured as a loop-start analog trunk emulation over ds1. i forgot to mention this in the faq.

i had originally hooked if up via Tie T-1 with a dedicated trunk group. got to the VRU, but it did not pick the call up. stayed connected, but i could not hear the VRU speech phrases. if the ds1fd is anlog, then that won't work.
thoughts?

On the Agent Login ID mark them as Auto-Available (AAS=y). The Hunt Group (Skill) should be marked as AAS as well.

Ok folks. Sorry keep egging this on.
All i am trying to do is do a tie from our PBX to the the VRU. I don't need ACD, Converse, etc. I am using my existing PBX trunks to tie to this VRU. The VRU works with a discreet T-1 that is not part of our PBX.

I am doing testing and am getting to the Tie trunk group, channel 1, but it is dead air. The call stay's off hook and does not disconnect until i do so. the trunk group is tie, wink/wink.

i have zero support from the VRU vendor.

thoughts are welcome.
