Dear . . .,
This is my first post - so i hope im in the right place!!
I have tried to set up my home computer as a vpn server using the vpn that is included on xp.
I have set this up and then set up the client on my laptop using the ip address given when i do cmd> ipconfig /all
I then connected and the vpn worked great - so i went and connected to my mates internet and tried the vpn again - it failed.
I realised that the vpn client is dialing the ip address of the networked computer behind a Belkin ADSL2 wireless modem - i tried the vpn again with the actual ip address and it still failed.
I dont understand why this isn't working.
I could realy do with some help and i would greatly appreciate it
Thanks in advance - and if you need any information dont hesitate to ask!!

Well, I would NEVER use the "built-in" crap that comes with Windows...what kind of circuit? ADSL? If so, and you have 4 or less nodes on your LAN, I would get a Cisco 837 router, and it can also be used as the modem. A very secure VPN can be set up in this, and I can guide you with that. I normally don't deal with that Windows crap.

If you want to stick with what you have, are you using the Windows logon info, or the logon info you set up with the VPN? I actually had no idea that a Windows XP box could serve vpn connections...just connect TO them...

I would prefer to stick with what i have got at the moment, so here are the details.
i am using logon credentials that i specified when i created the vpn server.
I have got the same account on both the client and the server.
but i'm not sure why it is not accepting the logon details??
Any thoughts - please let me know.

Crap...no idea, man. I vaguely would have an idea about Server 2003...try the admin account and password, I guess...
