Is anyone using a VPN over DSL to cable modem to run a multiuser session with Quickbooks?

I was planning on getting a couple of Linksys befvp41's to do it.

I have residential dynamic IP's on both sides, one side is Cox Cable and the other side is Verizon DSL, both in Southern California.

Has anyone been successful in a similar situation and how were the performance results?

I tell you what, it had better work. I am setting that same thing up with Cox on both ends.

I have been told that the tunnel will work, and I would imagine it is just amatter of telling Quickbooks where the fioles are that it is opening, so I see no reason for it not to work.

I will also be running ACT2000 and the Quickbooks link to Act through the tunnel.

It better work. I will have my routers Monday and will begin my tests Tuesday :)

Hey Guys

One thing to remember: The speed of the VPN. This has nothing to do with the VPN itself, but rather your "high speed" internet provider. Where you have probably gotten accustomed to 10 MBs or 100 MBs on your local network, most broadband providers limit you to 128 KBs or 256 KBs on the upload side, even though you may have 1.5 MBs down (or even more). Since the VPN relies on bi-directional data movement across the internet, this will be your limiting factor.

Just a little food for thought.

Wardaddy, did you get it to work over Cox? I am trying to do the same thing.

Thanks, Pete
