VPN VOIP Call issue

I am connected to VPN and can connect to the softphone and pull DT.

If I call someone they can not hear me, and I can not hear them on a 3900 seires set, however if I call a IP phone the call works fine.

I suspect this is Firewall, but I am unsure how to relay this to my IT fellows:

Is it correct to assume that the call to the IP phone calls do have to pass though the voice gatway media card?? Are these the
ip addresses that i need to give them or am i confused?

 
If you are not connected via VPN (ie, at the main office) do you get a speechpath then?

IP to IP calls do not go through the VGMC card. However, an IP to digital/analog phone will. Since you get no speech when going to a digital phone, I would suspect the VGMC card. Can you call your voicemail system from your IP set and get speech? Do the IP phones at the main office have any issues calling digital sets?

If the IP sets at the office are OK, then look towards IP routing/firewall issues.
 
If you are calling from IP phone to IP phone, the call signalling is set up and basically handed off to the sets. The voice traffic is not going through the Media Card. Anytime the call leaves the IP network, whether it is going to a digital set, or to the outside world, that call will use a channel on the Media Card.

Is this only happening when you go through the VPN?
 
The IP phones in the office work fine.

Teh only issue is with the softphone when using a VPN connection.

Voice Gateway Media IP's must need to be opened with teh firwall guys as I suspected.

Sometimes I really do know the answer! I just need someone to give me a cookie so I know I am a good boy...

hi all,
I am also faceing the same issue on 1000E. means if i will call while out side thru VPN to the IP tp IP i cant hear the voice but i will can the Ip softphone via the trunk its working fine? what could be the problem?
 
Get your firewall guys to ublock the Voice Gateway Media IP addresses.
