Thankyou for any responses on this query, assistance is always appreciated and given where applicable.

I have currently been put in charge of our small office LAN (20 machines 4 printers.. across 3 floors etc) but I am from a strong programming background and am now moving into networking as this is very exciting stuff!

Query:

I have set up a VPN which seems to work fine. I log into it from home using my XP machine into the office server (2000). I use windows own software in control panel not third party software. I can see the whole of my office server, all directories, copy files to my home pc etc.

What I really need to do is view my development machine in the office. Once I am logged into the server how do i view machines which in the office the server sees with no problems?

(when I am connected to the VPN i can connect to server by mapping network drive \\servername\share but this does not work with the workstations!!)

thanks

all seems ok in ipconfig -> I can log into the server from home but not any workstations, which all work fine in the office.

is there a specific method one needs to use because drives to the workstations does not work?

If you can see the server and not the clients it is most likely a routing problem, myself I am having a routing problem too, so I would look to make sure that you have your server routing between the two subnets.
