I will be connecting three remote sites to my corporate LAN via satellite. I was told that TCP performance is very slow, and it is very difficult to establish an IPSEC tunnel via satellite due to latency, TCP performance, etc...

I have read two white papers that address this issue by using Performance Enhancing Proxies(PEPs). I have only found one vendor that supply VPN routers specifically designed to work with satellite communications. The venor is and their product is VSR-30 VPN router.

Does anyone know of any other vendor that can supply a VPN router supporting satellite coummunication? I have to obtain atleast three vendor quotes.

There are others out there (yes my company is one that has a solution). Be careful, becuase it may not help your problem, depending on the traffic content (http, versus file transfer, etc...). The issue with a PEP is to increase the effective performance of the channel by "fooling" working around the normal TCP/IP handshaking that would quickly overwhel it due to latency. You need to think carefully how you implement if you are trying to use IPsec, the break in semantics caused by the PEP may be a problem

Also, if you have a high number of embedded objects in your http request it may not provide much if any gain.

I have heard of another company, End II End Communications, at You might want to check them out. I understand that their product is better than Encore's product.
