Hi gang,
New guy on the forum here!! I recently installed an IP Office 403 and it actaully works :) I was recently certified and it was my first. An Ip Office virgin so to speak. My questions are these:

I am adding a home office remote phone a 5610SW IP.

Is this correct:
1. Update the *.scr file to the 4600VPN *.scr file
2. Install Communication Manager, configure.
3. Setup the extension in the Manager Config as a remote extension.
4. Plug it in at the Router in the home office location.
5. Configure the IP settings.

And I ma good to go, correct? I' over simplifying a bit :) but you get the idea. Am I missing anything? I don't need any additional softwares or licenses do I?
I REALLY appreciate the help!!
Mike

first do you have a vpn connection set up from ip office to phone?

can you ping ip office and manager pc from remote office and vice versa?

is there an ip route built in manager to the remote router?

after all those steps are assured you plug the phone in at the office, enter all the static info into the phone. leave manager open in the office and take the phone to the remote office and plug it into the router.

if the phone is used at your home then you should fill in the next things:

callsv : ip of ipoffice
router : gateway of YOUR router
subnetmask subnetmask of your router
filesvr:fileserver on your office
and the rest can stay the way it is
this should work

The Incoming Call Route should have a Destination of "JSmith 203" or whatever the name of the User is. If you've done this then there's no way it can go to an Auto Attendant.

Is the incoming line a DDI/DID on an ISDN line? If so, then make sure the Incoming Number is correct. If it's a CO line then make sure you've got the correct Incoming Group ID set on the Line and in the Incoming Call Route."

That is what I did and it still picks up th Auto Attendant? And no it is not an ISDN line, standard incoing analog line?
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks guys, let me try those settings and setting up the IP Route. I'll report back soon!!!

Thanks for the help!!
Mike

first do you have a vpn connection set up from ip office to phone? I think I have? I have setup an IP route from the IP Office unit IP to the Phone IP?

can you ping ip office and manager pc from remote office and vice versa? I can ping the Manager PC both ways but NOT the IP Office unit from my house?

is there an ip route built in manager to the remote router?
Yes, I think? I put in settings of the IP address of the IP Office unit and my Router IP from my house. Is that correct?

after all those steps are assured you plug the phone in at the office, enter all the static info into the phone. leave manager open in the office and take the phone to the remote office and plug it into the router."

Thanks,
Mike

Hi:

I am new here and hopefully posting this correctly. I Googled "connect avaya ip phone over vpn" and found this post. After reading this I think I am close to a connection and looking for some help from 'disturbedone'

I have a hardware VPN created with 2 Netgear Prosafe VPN FVS338's. The IP office is on 10.70.1.x and my remote side is 10.70.2.x. I connect the phone and it sees the TFTP server and gets updated I login with the extension and password, yet the phone does not get dial tone or can it be dialed as an extension from the system? The phone is a 5602 SW IP Phone.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Do you have a VCM-Module in your IP-Office.

Greets Peter

Peter:

Yes there is a VCM-Module in the system. The VPN tunnel is good; I can ping the phone from the office and ping the server from remote. I can log in to the server using the 10. address across the VPN, etc. Yet no voice. The TFTP server downloads to the phone. I have read a couple other threads about possible problems with the Netgears & H.323 and also that the 56xx phone may not work on a VPN??

Thanks
Gary

an 56xx phone works over vpn
i made a vpn to my home and tested it for a while
make sure that you have enough bandwidth
for one phone it works but don't push it otherwise your will have problems with quality
i did this with d-link di804hv vpn routers

I noticed that the file that got downloaded was a 46xx..scr file, do you know if this needed to be modified for a 56xx phone.

no that doesn't need to be modified
in the 46xxupgrade.scr is that already done for you

The .scr loads into the phone but I have not found or looked at it yet to see what it has in it. I have no idea what the scripts contain? What routers where you using at each end for the VPN; Do they do qos?

Thanks
Gary
