Hello,

Currently I have a workgroup set up with about 23 pc's and other devices attached. There is no server which is why I'm calling it a workgroup. I am curious as to whether a vpn endpoint router would on a workgroup type topology(no server) and how that would work as far as authentication is concerned. I was thinking about a linksys RV082 VPN router. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

You can setup IPSec VPN or PPTP VPN. One way or other, you setup login ID or pre-share key on the router. This link may help,

How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on

What are you looking to do here, gain remote access or link up to different locations? If the answer is no then you would be better off with a server. This way you would have more control over all the pc's.

I just want to be able to VPN in from a remote location to work. We have an as/400 box on the network that I'd like to be able to access securely. That's about all I really want it to do. So, I assume by the posts so far this would work.
