VPN connects, cannot map drive 1

We are running VPN on our NT 4.0 server.
SP6 has been reapplied.

From our Windows 2000 work stations, we dial into our ISP via modem and then to the VPN.

We connect okay, but cannot map any drives.

From remote workstations on their own DSL, we do not even log in. We get the error 619, the specified port is not connected.

Can you help with either of the above problems?

You have to make an entry in your lmhosts file since you don't have WINS. There is a sample file named lmhosts.sam that you add at the end:

ipaddress servername #PRE

and then save as lmhosts (no extension).

After that, in a dos prompt type nbtstat -R to refresh the netbios cache. nbtstat -c should show that the new server is listed in the cache.

You should then be able to map the drive.
