dear all

we habe a big problem with one of our vpn connections and
i dont know what can be the problem.
the connection worked 2 month ago but
after we made some changes it stopped working fine.
we did the following:

1.changed the ISP
2.reconfigured the Nortel 1010 box (new LAN range, changed encyrption from TripleDES to AES and configured OSPF)
this is a standard setup we use,we never had problems with
these settings in other vpn locations.

now we get a lot of network timeout errors and i dont know why.fyi, counterpart of the vpn connection is a nortel 1600
and our internal email server lies behind the nortel 1600

some examples:

1.notebook diretly connected to the LAN
- sending 90 KB jpeg attachment via email
netscape email client freezes at 19% during the sending process,30-45 seconds later network timeout
- sending 30 KB pdf attachment via email
netscape email client freezes at 44% during the sending process,30-45 seconds later network timeout
- sending 433 KB bmp attachment via email
SUCCESSFUL!!!

2.notebook directly connected to the LAN0 interface
of the nortel contivity 1010
- sending 90 KB jpeg attachment via email
netscape email client freezes at 19% during the sending process,30-45 seconds later network timeout
- sending 30 KB pdf attachment via email
netscape email client freezes at 44% during the sending process,30-45 seconds later network timeout
- sending 433 KB bmp attachment via email
SUCCESSFUL!!!

3.notebook directly connected to the ISP router and
accessed our corporate network via nortel contivity client
- sending 90 KB jpeg attachment via email
SUCCESSFUL!!!
- sending 30 KB pdf attachment via email
SUCCESSFUL!!!
- sending 433 KB bmp attachment via email
SUCCESSFUL!!!

why iam able to send a 433 KB attachment and not a 30 KB
attachment? we are not doing any content filtering.
this is not only a problem with email ,we have also problems
using VNC (network timeout)
as i said everything worked before,we also changed back
to tripleDES,problems still exists.

i have a lot of question marks in my face and i hope that someone has a clue how to solve that.

thanks in advance

problem solved, updated the ISP router firmware.
