We have a win2K server for our corporate VPN and Won2K pro or XP Pro running the Microsoft VPN client. My VPN users are connecting through Cable or DSL broadband. The problem is that the users keep getting disconnected. They can be working for an hour or get booted immediately. When checking the Server logs we see them connecting then we see a client initiated disconnect. Can this be a timeout issue? I have discussed my problem with someone from another company who is having the same issues but also has no clue as to how to fix it.

We're having a similar problem. Also no idea where to start troubleshooting. If you sort the problem, please let me know.

Thanks

We have determined that it has to be something with the ISP timing out our connection.

We have a number of different ISPs for our broadband. One of them is scanning the VPN connection at the firewall. They have reconfigured it for our connection to stop this activity. I will test it and see if this works. If not we are going to configure Outlook to synchronize every 3 minutes. This should, if successful, keep our connection alive.

I'll let you folks know if it works.

I was having a simular problem .... I had a single static IP at the CO central office and all the remote have dynamic IP addresses. It worked fine except that all 24 remote locations would not connect and stay connected at the same time.

We have since upgraded our service from 1.5 MPS downstream/256 MPS upstream DSL to 1024 KPS downstream and 768 KPS on the upstream. but we were issued a set of 8 IP addresses. 5 of which are actual usable IPs. But here is where the fun began. We now have a problem with the LAN and WAN having a different subnet mask. The LAN (255.255.255.0) 192.168.x.x and the public IPs are (255.255.255.248) with IPs at 67.33.x.x ..... we now have to buy new routers cause the BEFVP41 Linksys router would not allow us to utilize the multiple IPs.

So now we are faced with have to get another router for which we have gotten Netopia's 3346 router to go with the Linksys. Now have in the heck do we make it all work .... the VPN is now down for the count. HELP ME......

By the work u can't disable NAT on that BEFVP41 which is why I chose the Netopia. But reconfiguring after walking through with my ISP has let me doubting everything that I know ..... So many "experts" willing to tell me that what I have want work. The topology that is..... If you could .... just assist me I'm sure I can get our network back up before the boss discovers it is down .... HA HA HA

HELP!!!!!
