I've got the error message from a VPN client station connecting to a Microsoft VPN server. Any suggestions where to look at? Thanks in advance.

Error 752: the hostname you dialed into could not be found. Please check the host name and if connecting over a Modem make sure the Modem connection is already running, and then try again.

Just to give you more information about the situation I have. I already checked the firewall config - the port 1723 is opened and NAT is enabled. I use outside IP address of the firewall and then I get the error. I checked PPTP setup on the server and the permissions of RAS and they look fine. Please, help...

Don't forget to enable IP protocol 47 passthrough in addition to TCP 1723. Note: this is GRE and NOT TCP port 47 as is so commonly seen in these forums. This has to be done on both the firewall and the NAT settings. Alternatively this may be called PPTP passthrough. Your router must have this PPTP passthrough capability. If not then even if you allow this protocol in your firewall this will never work.

I tried on Win2K machine and it works without any problem. I went through the authentication and was able to map the VPN server shared folders. Here are questions again then.

1. What's wrong with Win98 SE VPN client that I'm having a trouble with? The configuration on Win98 is so simple and don't have many places to look at. I checked the MS KB articles and downloaded & installed the latest VPN update for the Win98 SE, but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

2. I didn't see anything in the Network Neighborhood once I get connected to the VPN server. I can access to the shared directories on the VPN server though. Also, I was able to run different machines by calling up directly. Just don't see any other users in the Network Neighborhood. Is it normal?
