Hello, I have the situation of a satelite office with a WIN2K laptop and a WIN98 laptop. Both of them would happily connect to the 2K server using the VPN. Lately the 2K laptop just keeps timing out when I try to connect it. I have tried the same Logon ID on two different WIN2K machines and both can connect to the 2K server. Both of these laptops sit behind a DLINK 804 internet router connected to an ADSL modem. I doubt it very much that the router is the problem because the WIN98 laptop can connect just fine.

The troublesome 2K laptop can also obtain obtain Internet Access and I can also ping the 2K server with it. Both laptops can see each other on their network as well.

I have deleted the VPN setup and re-created it, but to no avail. Can any one think of an explanation besides re-loading the dam thing! The error message that comes up when I try to connect is the old "678...There was no answer"

Looking forward to a reply or two!

JamesBoag,

Make sure that you are "hand-shaking" with your VPN...you'll need to be running PPP, in addition to your NOC Protocol, or whatever serves up the VPN pipe your using. Often times, the message you're getting is generated because for some reason, (usually binding problems), there is no protcol through which a connection, (answer), can be established. Let Me Know!
