We're having a hard time connecting a nortel vpn client,
with its host. The machines in question are sitting behind
a firewalled *black ice* windows 2000 machine which is
running ICS *internet connection sharing* to get internet
connectivity to the machines.

We've opened the required port in the firewall to all
machines on our internal network, from those machines we can
ping, and tracert to the VPN host just fine. However the
VPN client won't connect. We've also tried disabling the
firewall entirely for a brief test with the same results.
However, putting the VPN client on a machine with a fixed
'direct' connection to the internet does allow it to
connect.

Any suggestions on how to tackle this futher would be swell.

The Nortel Client does not support ICS, you need to have that off, try a router instead
