VPN and iphone3g

Hi, i Have setup a Windows xp VPN i can connect to it using my iphone 3g but i cannot surf web pages using the vpn what i would really like to do is give my iphone a normal ip rather than a mobile ip.
any ideas?

The IP your phone is getting is a normal IP supplied by the carrier. I think what your trying to get is an internal IP assigned by a router or some DHCP server. If your phone is working fine as is why try to make this change?

i want to view bbc iplayer but it detects im on a mobile ip so i want to give it a norm ip and use it's 3g connection

I am not too familiar with the iphone but can it work off a local WiFi? If not then you would be best purchasing a VPN router that will assign an IP to the phone.

Could this simply be because your web traffic is using the VPN rather than the 3G connection?

If I got a VPN router could I connect to this using 3g and the VPN router would be able to change my ip to a external ip rather than a mobile ip

No all the router will assign is a private IP. The only way your going to get a public IP is through your internet provider which you currently have. As for assigning to your iphone that won't happen.
