Good morning All,

I have an Octel 250 that appears to be running well for the most part. I have an issue when dialing the VPMOD number to edit a type 32 mailbox, pressing #, the system does not recognize the mailbox 3743. I enter 4 digits and I get a prompt that it does not recognize mailbox 374. The system is apparently thinking this is a 3 digit mailbox. I tried other mailbox's with the same results. Any one have a clue as to where I need to look at resolving this problem?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

What does CDR show when you try logging into that mbx and other mbxs? You can paste the results in a reply.
Can you change mbx 3743 (in menu 9.1.1)?
The other mbxs that were tested, were they also type 32?
If all were type 32, try a different type. What are the results?
If not type 32, try logging into a system manager mbx. What are the results?
Run CDR on your mbx #. From your desk phone, dial VM accessing the TUI and change your pswd to 3743. Logoff. Log back in w/ the new pswd. If good, then try logging in again, hoping for a different port in CDR. You can also change your pswd to all 10 digits which will test DTMF recognition on each port.

Find out if the problem is mbx related, port related, system-wide, etc.

Thanks Pat,

I did try another type 32 and a regular mailbox. Each time, while dialing in remotely calling the VPMOD number ,(Im in Seattle, the Octel is in another state) pressing # to access any mailbox, I am told my four digit mailbox is invalid. The system reads back only the first 3 digits. I tried changing the mailbox to 3 digits but the system would not allow it of course. I was thinking DTMF as well. This is an old Avaya Definity PBX it is connected too. We rebooted the Octel after business hours with no luck. Ill run the CDR and see where that gets me and post it on here. I will probably walk the customer through trying to change the settings and see how that goes for a quick fix.

Thanks for your help Pat

Are you saying that if you call the system local it works ? And that users can get in their mailbox if they use integration like a direct call from their own desk phone ?

Good morning Ken,

Im sure they can or I would have had a ton of trouble tickets. I am going to see if I can have the user on the type 32 see if he can get in and walk him through the options. He has an option 1 that they changed and probably failed to put in a 9 or something. Ill get this fire put out and then check to see if I have a larger issue such as a DTMF problem. As I mentioned, dialing in remotely to the VPMOD, pressing #, the system is not accepting my 4 digits and only recognizing 3. That is for any type of mailbox. The system is set up for 4 digit mailboxes. They should be in shortly and I will give it a try.

if you need help let me know. I have seen this before but am trying to pull it out of my old memory bank as to what it was. It sounds like conflict with something in the system like a node numbering issue in some way.

Thanks Ken.

I appreciate it.. I have seen this before too. Always something filed away in the back of your head and just takes a while for it to come to the front!

Have a good one
