When attempting to open an exisiting vpb file I get the error 'The project file 'C:\.....' is corrupt, and can't be loaded'.

The really strange thing is that this only happens after I have previously opened a specific previous project file ?

If I close VB and open the project file in question by itself it works fine. I only get this error when opening it after another specific vpb file.

What could be causing this ? I think it's an issue with VB and not my projects.

Has anybody come across anything similar ?

Yup...A while ago i had my Vb acting realy strange...did not recognise my functions, gave errors on common VB functions, VB hangs up and exits...lalalalala

Tried to re-install but in the end I had to re-format(re-install windows)

I can't really afford to do that to be honest. Surely a re-install of Windows is a bit drastic ?

I have searched on the Microsoft Support site and no luck there.

I also tried everything.....

Creating a new project file and importing all my forms, re-installing VB, re-install SP5, install VB without SP5, Install without Third Party addins such as MZtools......etc

I found that as I was trying to fix the problem my VB became worse.....When it first started I had problems with one section in one project (data environment), later I could open, but not use basically all of my projects...like I said gave weird errors with normal(built-in) VB functions.

This is just my two cnts worth....although I don't think that you are experiencing the same problem as what I had...

rzirpolo, do you have service pack 5 installed?

"Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'."

Yes sorry, I should have stated from the start. I am running VB6 SP5.

Thanks for the link, looks like exactly the same error !?!

I am getting the same error only with vb 6. The link given was for vb 5.

rsirpolo - did you solve this problem, if so what did you do?
