I have a voyager 200 router and without questioning it, went out and got a Linksys wireless router with the idea of feeding the Linksys with the one and only LAN port on the voyager. It doesnt immediately work, so my Q is: Am I wasting my time with this arbitrary configuration of mine, or is there some magic IP address I need to enter :O

Connnect the WRT54G directly to your computer.
Set your workstation network adapter to a static IP of 192.168.1.2, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1

Start IE and go to 192.168.1.1
There is no username, the password is admin

I believe the Voyager gives out DHCP address in the subnet 192.168.0.x, so set the WRT54G to a static IP of 192.168.0.2, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1

The find the DHCP settings, and disable DHCP on the router.
Set the same (B)SSID as the Voyager, but set the WRT54G to a different channel.

Apply all changes and Exit IE. Shut off power to the Voyager and the WRT54G.

Now take an ethernet drop cable and go from the Voyager LAN port to the "Uplink" port on the WRT54G. Power on the Voyager. When the lights stabilize, power on the WRT54G.

Set your workstation network adapter back to "Obtain an IP address automaticly".

Start, Run, ipconfig /all /release
Star, Run, ipconfig /all /renew

See if everything is working OK.

Actually.....the URL you gave me was enough. Just made sure Voyager was 192.168.1.1 and Linksys wireless 192.168.2.1 :) Thanks.

However, when i stick an UTP patch cable from wirelss to my notebook, there is an initial connection before everything freezes up. (I have to turn Voyager modem/router off/on to reset.) I notice data being sent by the notebook ether card too - like 100Kb/sec! Then my desktop PC on wireless connection alerts me to a possible BUffer Overflow Attack. This should really be a new topic..hmmm :?

This article applies to XP users. I am Win2k. Its also not a problem of slow network performance. IWS it could well be a buffer overflow problem, because there is initial network activity (can browse web) before it all freezes up. MOst notably, there is a constant flow of data being sent by the ether card - what looks like over 100Kb/s. Hmmm.. :?

Backdoor Trojan Dc1.exe and dc2.exe :'(

Fixed now though :D

Hey everyone!
I have a problem. I have bought a Linksys WRT54G G Broadband router along with a Linksys B USB Network adaptor for my PC. I installed the network adaptor so I now have a wireless network on my PC. I have wanadoo BBand on PC and want to share that with my laptop in the other room. My router doesnt connect to my PC becuase my Dell Dimension 4400 does not have any port for the ethernet cable to fit in. So basically, i cannot connect my router at all. Is there any ethernet cable adaptor that doesnt require opening CPU and installing a ethernet PCI card? I need an external adaptor for it. Also i need info on how to setup wireless bband on both my pc and laptop. i have wireless network card on both laptop and PC.
Thanks
