can someone give a quick run down on VoIP trunks? I have a 50 and 400 both 3.7 on the same network. I have 4 VoIP gateway trunks on both machines. I set the digit 3 up as a destination code and have it route through route 002.

I put the VoIP lines in pool B and assigned B to the test phone. Call picks up and hears fast busy when entering the 2nd digit of a 3 digit ext. Ideas?

All help is appreciated...

Have you assigned a destination digit for the IP trunk and an IP address for the BCM at the far end you will. You will find it on the IP telephony tab on the BCM 400.

Are you deleting the destination code (Delete 1)

If you use the BCM Monitor you will beable to see what you are sending the other BCM.

use bcm monitor (UIP, MCDN) and check for messages (in and out)

got the manual out, imagine that... and started to read. I didn't have target lines on either end built, still don't, plan on working on this tomorrow. not sure about the private number field however. Don't have a "problem" as of yet, barley started reallly and was just kinda looking for a quick run down on the steps. Like, build target lines, set private number, add lines to pool X, etc...

thanks as always for all those that take the time to answer.

while monitoring the 50 and 400 i can see the 400 access the VoIP line and send out the digits. The monitor of the 50 doesn't show that any digits are being received. Any thoughts?

If you can see digits going out on the 400 and the digits are right, then the problem is at the 50. What are the digits you see going out?

I am asking the site to dial a 4 digit ext, which is what the received digits for the target line is set to. All digits are out pulsed so i see 3323. When monitoring the 50 the voip line is never accessed.

ideas?

while looking at telephony resources, there is a N/A in the spot that should read bus 2.

location mod type bus
internal ip & apps 1
internal ip trunks N/A
interanl trunks 3

not sure whats happened... tryed double clicking in the bus column, but to no avail.

however under licensing it show 4 VoIP trunks active...go figure

You don't set a BUS for IP trunk other then the preset ones. IP trunks don't use a module

What are you using a a destination code?

What do you have DN type set to ?(Mine is National)

Under dialing Plan
Private Network
Type must be set to CDP

Im using 9 so far to try and access the line.. I am not set at CDP on the either end. Let me change that and see what happens. thank you.

Mine wouldn't work till I set CDP.

Isn't 9 your access to route A?

What are you using a a destination code? Mine are set to 6A, so I would dial 6xxx 2221 and 2221 would ring at site 6xxx
