VOIP Trunking Between two BCM400 2

I setup a trunk between two BCM400's. I can pick up the phone and dial an extension on the other side of the trunk but can only reach the prime set of the VOIP line programmed under trunk/iine data of the voip line.

Here's a little background on the two systems.

BCM400 #1 DN's 2XXX 192.168.9.10 Test using DN 2125
CDP
Private Network ID = 1
Private DN length = 5
Received Private # Length = 5
Destination Code = 4
Absorb 0
Route 002 to pool I
Pool I Voip lines 1-8 H323
H.323 Gateway Destination Digits 4
2125 Private OLI 22125
Target Line 249 Private Received 22125

BCM400 #2 DN's 4XXX 192.168.2.10 Test using DN 4269
CDP
Private Network ID = 1
Private DN length = 5
Received Private # Length = 5
Destination Code = 82
Absorb 1
Route 002 to pool I Voip
Pool I lines 1-8 H323
H.323 Gateway Destination Digits 2
4269 Private OLI 44269
Target Line 241 Private Received 44269

Okay when I dial 44269 or any other 5 digit extension starting with 4xxxx from DN 2125 I reach the prime set of VOIP Lines 1-8 on the remote system and vice versa.

Pick up Phone --> Dialtone --> Dial 4XXX--> Routes to Pool I and hits VOIP TRUNK --> Remote System Receives VOIP TRUNK --> Digits passed dropped / incorrect digits??? --> hits prime set on Trunk line

Can somebody help me complete the final step. I feel that we are only 1 step away from being able to complete calls through the voip trunk. If you need more information let me know.

have you already monitored that with the BCM monitor? check "MCDN" on the UIP tab.
this should help. if not, install the latest FEPS patch. this solved the same problem once for me.

are you inserting a digit in the routing table?
if you are dialing 4 digits why are you receiving 5?

And you are right if the received digits cannot be interpreted, the call is sent to the prime set

Steef,
Here is the information from the line monitor. If I am reading this correctly the system on the far end is not recognizing the correct DNIS of telephone. Instead the DNIS showing is the number i'm trying to dial on the far end. In the trace below I am calling from DN 2911 but it identified the call as coming from 44225. I don't have access to the patch that you referred to in your email.

Could you please paste the MCDN log from bcm monitor here? (from the bcm that receives the digits)
this would help a lot :) Thanks

The line monitor is blank on the local end of the call. Active lines show 0 but everything is greyed out. MCDN is checked. One system is on 3.7 and the other is 3.6. I cannot view line monitor stats on the system with 3.6.

Enjoy =)

under your ip trunk settings (remote gateways) have you checked SL1 as protocol?

Just a quick question... Why are you using 5 digits to dial over the voip when the two sites are using differing 4 digit numbering schemes?

It looks like you're sending all 5 digits across VoIP and trying to number match on the far end. It could be failing because by default the VoIP trunks setup up as public not private lines so the incoming call will follow the public number on the target line for the extn.

Also if you are dialling 44xxx for the 4 digit extn number on the far end you could just strip off the leading "4" by "absorb 1" in the call routing for digit "4" instead of the "Absorb 0". (If you're not using wild cards in the call routing use "Absorb All" for the entry for digit "4" instead). So only 4 digits are sent over VoIP and the far end only needs to number match the 4 digit extn number. That should save on the programming instead of playing around with the number of digits for private / public numbers and oli /cli etc...

Regards,
N..

The gateway protocol is set to none on both sides of the voip trunk.

The 8 Voip Lines are grouped to pool I.

I've tried using 4 & 5 digits. I moved to 5 digits during the troubleshooting process. I also attached a private targetline to an extension on both sides with the private OLI and the private received set properly. No Luck

have you tried using SL1 instead of "None" as gateway protocol?

If you don't have the MCDN/SL1 keycode on your system you need to assign your received digits to the public received number field, not private. The private received number field only works when the SL1 keycode is enabled. That might explain why your calls are priming to the attendant set.

We are taking in 7 digts on the public received side so it will not let me enter a 4 digit extension in the public received area.

Any idea why I cannot view the line monitor stats on the local side of the equation. I can view the line monitor stats on the 3.7 system but cannot on the 3.6 system. The 3.7 system.

The information below shows a call from the 3.7 system. I am dialing extension 2181 on the remote side. My extension is 4269. It would be nice to see what the other system recognizes using the same tool on the far end.

[Line: 8 - Line008 Direction: Outgoing Start Time: 10/13/06 14:00:44 User: 4269 - Andre State: Dialing Number and Name: 2181 ]

Have you tried the latest FEPS patch just like Steeef said? I have the same issue with one of our client who has BCM50 and BCM400. Please let us know your progress.

Thanks guys, I'm learning......

@DownSouthData: Goto Type in the Name of the Share "DownSouthData"
Here you will find the latest CORE and FEPS patches for BCM3.6 and 3.7
Install them first then try again.
As i said before, this solved the same issue for me once.

Steeef,
Thanks for providing access to the BCM patches. I am able to make calls across the VOIP trunk after installing the 3.6 and the 3.7 patches. I would also like to thank everyone else who responded to this post.
