I have 4 sites set up with Nortel VOIP Gateways using auto answer and target lines. They can all communicate with each other but it takes about 10 seconds for the recieving phone to ring. Any help on this situation would be appreciated

Thanks

Jeff

how are the VOIP Gateways interconnected? what kind of WAN is that? is there any congestion on that?

the sites are point to point T1s. I dont believe the congestion is on the network because if I add the gateway lines to a T7316 to appear only, the indicator lights up on the phone instantly, but will not ring the intended set for about 10 seconds.

I think the problem may be with how the DTMF is setup. Any help with this will be appreciated

I don't have an answer for you, but I've got a customer with 6 remote offices in the bay area all of which have MICS 6.1, and all of which are using point to point t-1's for their data using Cisco 1900 series routers. How well does the VOIP Gateway work? Can you provide me with a source for reference materials? Ol' Nortel.com has limited my access....I'm needing to somehow resolve that. j8762

Have you programmed the Target lines to ring on the sets? If the calls are ringing to the set only because it is the prime set, it will take a few extra seconds.

all of the target lines are set up for the correct received digits and the targey lines are set to ring only on the appropriate sets.

We have the same situation and have learned to live with it. A solution would be welcome. We made the gateway provide ring back until the KSU takes over so the calling party would not hear 10 seconds of dead air.
