Hey there!

Yesterday I enabled a VPN between our two offices, everything worked great, sharing files, RDP, all of it! Then I went to test the VOIP phone (Avaya 5610) and I dialed out of the company to a person just fine and I could hear them perfectly fine! HOWEVER, they couldn't hear me at all as if I was muted or hit mute on my own phone. I logged into the IP403 control units and looked at the IP route statements to make sure they are pointing to the correct new gateways for the VPN and they looked to be fine.

On second thought (I was in a huge hurry) and figured maybe I hit the mute button but I doubt it, but before I schedule another VPN test and drive all the way out to the remote office with a VOIP phone is there any other reason why you would be able to dial somebody on a VoIP phone and hear them clearly but they can't hear you talk to them (besides the mute button)? Could this have anything to do with the IP routes not sending the data correctly to him? but it could receive the data from them? If that's the case, how did I dial them in the first place if the route is wrong? It's confusing me... any suggestions before I go try again?

It's between two Identical Fortinet Fortigate 80C firewall/vpn devices... I'll try the media path thing at the end of the day hopefully!

is RTP real time transport protocol? or?

Yes turn DMP off....and your right about RTP.

make sure your firewalls arent inspecting your H323 traffic.

Turn off any ALGs and DoS protection to start with.
