Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out the best Avaya VoIP phone to buy. We currently switched over to a VPN solution in one office and I need to buy 10 IP phones. We are using IP 403 control units with 3.2 (53). We have two 5610's in one office, they are decent except my only complaint is the handset falls off too easily on the receiver when u go to grab it. I was looking at 1616's but I'm not sure if they are the best choice. Plus they need to have a local power supply/two ports so I can plug the computer into it just like the 5610's we currently have use. Are any of these discontinued or any other reason why they would be bad?

So should I go with more 5610's? Get 1616's? Something else? Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

Don't - they won't work. Support for 16xx phones was introduced at V4

>So should I go with more 5610's

Yes

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

The best reason to stick with the 5600 serie phones is that the 1600 serie phone do not work on a 403 :)
And if you want new 5600 phones then do not wait to long, they are going of sale in November.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

Indeed, and if you lift the handset you can turn the little clip around then they don't fall off as easy
If you pull it towards you instead of a bit up then there is a chance that the complete phone follows the handset and can hit your face :)

haha thanks guys! LOL

So basically 5610 is the way to go for us, theres no better choice for an IP phone if you don't have V4+ is what I'm gathering...

BRB I'm gonna go try and hit myself in the face with the phone... lmao
