Check out Mitel and thier teleworker solution. All the phone needs is an internet connection and thats it.
On the pbx side, You purchase this teleworker server (approx extra $3000). It comes with 2 nic's
You place one nic on the inside of your network (LAN)
and place the 2nd nic outside of your firewall (WAN)
The phone then connects to the public IP address on the WAN adapter. When the WAN adapter recieves the data, it passes the data through its own builtin firewall (which only allows teleworker services through) and then hands those packets off to the LAN adapter.
The server manages all of the QOS settings for the call.
If you use the VMWare solution with the Mitel Teleworker system, can you manage the QoS on your switches? Also, how do you secure this on the incoming ports?
