I have taken over maintenance of two Tda 620 , we want to go voip we have bought 2 cards kx-tda0490XJ with 16 channels. can an expert take me through the programming steps. i am more of an Lg tech, have done panasonic up to td 1232 . Is there a specialised pc programm or its console only and how do you go into the programm.

1. You'll need to assign an IP address and netmask for every 0470 card in the system.
2. In common system settings, assign the system gateway.
3. You'll need to assign extension number, codec and sampling rate for the IP phones. This is done in the 600, not the phone.
4. You'll need to tell each VOIP phone where the PBX is, but the IP phones can DHCP, if your on a VPN and your firewall is set correctly. I prefer to give the sets a static address but in any event, the phone needs to know the IP address of the IPExt16 card to which it's assigned. You can only point up to 16 sets to one IP station card.
Okay, there's 4 good hints to get you started. In the meantime, you have a bit of reading to do!

Umm, I'm pretty sure there is no mention in the original post about a 0470 card or any IP handsets. Poster has a couple of IPGW cards.
Think I've got a cheat sheet that will get you going through it. You'll need the maintenance console for the TDA. I'll have a look at work tomorrow for you.

Only gonna do a very basic guide, because I can't find any of my notes.
*For both TDA's you need to put the IPGW trunks into a trunk group of their own. Just pop them both into 10.
*Use a different extension numbering plans for each system. For site A, have the extensions as 10xx and for site b have them 20xx. For site a, delete 20xx and for site b delete 10xx.
*Add 20xx to other pbx extension for site a.
*Add 10xx to other pbx extension for site b.
*In tie table for site a, enter leading digit as 2 and set trunk group to 1
*In tie table for site b, enter leading digit as 10 and set trunk group to 1
That pretty much does it for the system. Now you have to setup the actual card. Connect to it using a web browser.
Go to the section 2.1 Change run/stop status.
Set the card to stop.
*Look at area 1.1 - Network Settings
Set IP address, subnet and default gateway. This is for the card you are working on only.
*Look at area 1.5 - Hunt Pattern
Enter the digits that this particular card will receive.
(1 for site a, 2 for site b) When you enter the details, you have to click on entry, then OK to confirm.
*Look at area 1.6 - DN2IP
Click on 1.6.1 - GW Entry.
Enter the details for all IPGW cards in the network
First GW is 0 and make the second site 1
Comment is just a site name
IP address must be different for each.
Group no. should be 0
Entry and OK to confirm again
*Go to section 1.6.2 - DN2IP Entry
Enter all leading digits for entire network.
Select remaing digits for each entry as 3. (assuming 4 digit ext numbers, in fact this whole guide is based on 4 digit numbering)
So enter 1 as leading number, 3 for remaining digits, click the GW button, and enter 0 or 1 depending which gateway the 1xxx extensions are on.
Do the same for 2 but obviously it'll have a different GW destination.
Entry and confirm again.
*Set the cards into run mode and test
That should get a very basic setup running. Mind you, its very basic and assumes that you have the TDA maintenance console, default IP address and password of IPGW card.

Not really mate. More bored than anything. Bit slow here so it gave me something to sit down and do.
All of that only took about 10 minutes to quickly setup and and note down. Don't do enough of them to remember it all off the top of my head unless i'm looking right at it.
In any case, all this is useless unless the poster has the right software and some familiarity (is that a word) with the system.
I guess we'll see how he goes.

For the original poster we all went through training and tests to be certified for these products. Software is only available to vendors with the certifications. It helps keep our job security.
On Panasonic's website you will be able to location your regional rep who will be able to contact a Vendor for you to come out to assist with the programming.

i just bugs me you get these people that
just refuse to read the book when all the how too's are in there and in the help files I just sat through
a 8 hour webinar and read the book and know this stuff
to get the certification !! I say if you do it your self
set it all up on the bench and test it and work on it till it works.....don't buy it and then relize that you

Webinar eh? Wish pana had that here. We have to go to the pana office for training. And the food they give us is dodgey.
I could handle sitting at home and putting the video stream on the telly and then just using the old picture in picture thing to watch something else!!
In any case, thank whoever that pana have sorted their manuals out. Imagine trying to understand them if they were like the old td500 books that didn't made any sense.
