I have a customer who has 2 offices. Office A has a 0x32 and office b has a CICs. The customer is wanting me to connect the two via the internet. They want the internal ATA dial tone int the 0x32 to be piped across the net and then run it in as a line apperance on the CICs. What is out there to do this with? Does Linksys or someone make devices such as these?

Thanks,

Nortel makes a VoIP gateway that does just what you are looking for but you won't need to use the IATA since the Nortel VoIP gateways use trunks on the system side.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Nortel makes a VoIP gateway that is designed to interact with the systems via four POTS trunks between the gateway and the systems and IP between gateways. The systems will need services cartridges for the DTMF receivers.

This would allow you to network them together for 4 digit dialing between the systems.

This may not answer your question because it doesn't have anything to do with the ATA.

You could take an ata and feed it across copper to appear on a line on the other system.

Multitech makes some great Gateways.

They have very helpful tech support, but it does take some good old fashioned telco know how to understand how it all works...

Also, MCK Extenders may provide a solution for you.

Like a lot of these things ... takes a while to get set up - then works "like a charm" from then on...

Good luck.

has anyone used one of these, not sure if it would work in my senario or not:

Linksys SPA3102 NA 1FXS / 1FXO Analog VoIP Gateway

Crowtalks, this is what I want to do but instead of using copper I want to use the net as my medium

It sounds like your customer wants only one station (your ATA) access across the network. If you want to use your net as a medium, then you are still going to need some sort of media converter to convert analog signal to packetized data. This means you will still need some form of gateway.

I think a gateway may still work in this scenario, so instead of connecting your analog signal from the gateway to an analog trunk, you would connect it straight to the station jack... and it might not require the services card for the dtmf receivers since the system isn't having to figure out where to route the digits...interesting...of course it could fail horribly and not work at all...

I have exactly what you are looking for.

How can we communicate?

Bill

Yeah, Rik, this is the thread I was thinking of. Because you give good advice, Karma came to help you.
