Hi all,

I'm new to Nortel equipment and VoIP, after a few months using their BCM system I was able to learn allot from it, the problem now is that we implemented VoIP trunks between our offices and want to implement QoS for our network. We are using Nortel equipment for these WAN connections, Contivity and VPN tunnels the internet router is a Cisco router and all devices are connected to the 5450 Nortel switches. My question is where do I configure the QoS for VoIP? on every device on each LAN? or just the Contivity's. Every site has a full T1 to the internet and are connected to the main site and other sites (Mesh Network) via VPN tunnels and OSPF as the routing protocol. I never configured QoS before and I would like to learn more about it and most importantly how to configure the contivity's for QoS for VoIP. Can anyone help with this one?

Qos is a per hop basis, so you should start at one side and work your way through. But for starting up and testing, the BCM should give a 10111000( check with a sniffer)QoS ,so you can just classify on the contivity`s and all should be fine. The normal problem is not the voice but the data that will effect the performance.
Enjoy the fine tuning.
Just did a test site with ARNs and it was good with G729 payload 40+VAD FRF12 and FRF9 on a 128k link [ 2calls]
