Installing 1140E's with external power connections. Have anyone ever heard of Nortel mentioning you might need to add some kind of booster to the network switches if you have a lot external power being used?

The IP Phone 1140E is a Class 3 802.3af device. Your data switch will therefore need to budget more power.

Hi 1460, not quite sure I understand your question. PoE (power over ethernet)capable switches using the 802.3af standard are able to supply up to 15.4W per port. A newer, future standard called PoE+ is being worked on and will able to deliver up to 56W per port. Hope that answers your question.
