Okay so a client of ours moved suites and they upgraded their phone system to an avaya ip office 9.0 because one of the main things was voicemail to email. How i normally set it up i use Sendgrid.com .. its easy... ping smtp.sendgrid.net .. put in the IP address, port 25 or 2525 kind of a trial and error thing. put in the sending email account that I made for their email.. and you check on the authorization and you put in the username and password for sendgrid and boom it works it takes 2 seconds. I have done it a million times...

but now it doesn't seem to work. I have tried everything. I have been trying everything for a couple hours a day for the past week and a half trying to get this work and I am at a dead end. it is not being blocked by their firewalls or anything because I am plugged straight into the comcast modem.

does anyone know a free smtp server relay and how to set it up? this is driving me insane.

help!!

thanks

Really bad idea!

What does SysMon say with SMTP filters enabled?

Gmail works great.

1. Create a Gmail account
2. Go into your Gmail account settings and enable the option to 'Use less secure apps'
3. In Manager go to SMTP settings. Enter the following:
Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Email from: The Gmail address you created
Username: The Gmail address you created
Password: Does this need explaining?

Make sure the boxes for use STARTTLS and Server Requires Auth are both CHECKED.

Also make sure that you have an IP route built that points traffic to your default gateway.

also make sure you put in the DNS servers, a lot of first timers forget that and then wonder why smtp.gmail.com doesn't resolve.
