I have a mailbox set to send a copy of new messages to an email address. It works fine, however, only some of the time.

Is there some way to monitor or log the email activity of the VMPro PC? That would help me figure out if some messages are being dropped by the ISP or mailer, vs. not being sent out by VMPro.

Is there a notification schedule that might be preventing the sending based on weekend/non-business hours...?

THANKS

download and run the app - on the vm server - and you can see all the debugging fluff coming out of vm pro, and it will show you it sending smtp mail...

Perfect, am running now, able to see VMPro step by step. And the verdict is...

0/06 16:28:19.765 vmprov5s (14,2) 2268,2412: Error 7 sending email to notif@XYZ.com

Looked up error 7-
The from address was not formatted correctly or was rejected by the SMTP mail server.

I checked the PC, and all the windows accounts. Went to the control panel item IPOffice and checked the settings there. All looks fine, but still error 7 persists...

I think I have messed up the email configuration now. I tried using the IPOffice control panel to check the settings, but when I closed the control panel, the IPO indicated it was verifying the config, took a couple minutes, and then asked if it should start the IMS service. I didn't recall doing that in the past, but clicked yes.

Have rebooted a couple times, but no messages are going out at all now.

I was just using SMTP email, not Exchange. Did I open a new can of worms with the IPO control panel?

try this:

HKLM/Software/Avaya/Media Services/Directories/DisableBinaryMime = N

try setting it to Y and restart VM Pro service.

also, on the vm server

create a local account call voicemail. make it a loca admin. set your email send from voicemail@abc.com and also run the voicemail pro service with this account.

I could not find HKLM/Software/Avaya/Media Services/Directories/DisableBinaryMime = N. No Media Services subdir in the Avaya entries.

I went through again and re-entered all the SMTP mail server info, first in Win XP, then in the IP Office Voicemail Pro. Set all to require authentication (not really needed on this particular mailer, but set it anyway). Then in IPO control panel, checked under SMTP "Use challenge response CRAM-MD5).

Then hit apply, system ran a new check, and it is working again.

Now it remains to be seen if it works reliably, or intermittently as before.

p.s cool qr sig :)
