System KX-TA624 w/ TVS-50. I have the custom service set so that at night option 3 routes to an extensions mailbox. No problem. During the day, it routes to the extension itself. I recorded 3 different messages - the no answer says "you've reached xxx and we are not available" , the busy says "you've reached xxx and we are on the phone", and the after hours message does not come into play during the day. When I tested it with no one on the extension and pressed 3 and let it ring, I got the vm lady saying "Sorry, no one is available to answer call, to leave a message, press 1". When I press 1 it then goes to my message. Same when line is busy, the lady first saying its busy, and if you'd like to hold press 1 otherwise press 2. When you press 1 then you get my message.

What I want is it to play my message right away. So I disabled prompts 502, 510, and disabled the hold function. So far so good. Now when I called, I got the message to leave a message press 1, to enter another extension press *, which took me back to the custom service menu (which I liked so if someone reaches the voicemail but does not want to leave a message, they have a way out). If I go to the extension and enter 4,4, 6,1 I can turn the return to auto attendent off, but then the option to press * is gone. So I turned off prompts 695 and 672 and left the return on, but now you just get silence and it never gets to my message. Is there a way to have the best of both worlds, ie no lady prompt, just my message, and the ablilty to press * to get to the custom menu. Also, one side note, I have the custom service set up for no DTMF to disconnect. If there is no DTMF, it waits, then my voice says "General Delivery Mailbox" and then hangs up. Obviously I recorded this somewhere, but I don't know where (is it a prompt, a voice label, etc?) I have checked everywhere and I don't know why it is doing this, and no, it is not prompt 531 - Thank you for calling.

Thanks

you need to dial the voicemail port then #6 *MAILBOX Number then 4-4 then disable operator {5} then disable returning to AA. when your busy or no answer will get the message direct.

That much I did. But what I wanted was in my message I would be able to say leave a message or press * to return to the main menu. With return to AA on, this would work, but then the prompts also work. If I disable the prompts, then I get that silence since it is waiting for a press 1 for the message. I'm sure I could do a workaround by rerecording the prompts to coincide with what is said in the message itself, but this is a pain. I was hoping for an easier solution. It would be nice if when they press 0 for operator it could take them to a CS menu instead. I don't believe this is possible, though.

Thanks,

Doc

I turned the return to auto attendent off and the operator off. I then called, pressed 3, and let it ring. Then the no answer message kicked in. While it was playing, I pressed #3 with no response. The message just kept playing.

Any other suggestions?

caller can leave a message at any time by pressing 2 or #3 to return main menus.

I think we are on different tracks. When the no answer message begins playing, it doesn't matter what key I press, it just keeps playing and then beeps for the message to be left. The only key that works is the * key which ends the call.

You said caller can leave a message anytime by pressing 2 or #3. when are you referring. At the point I am referring, the extension already did not pick up, and the no answer message is playing which allows them to leave a message. I want to also give them the option to get out of the message and go back to the top menu (CS1). This works if 4-4-6 is on, but then I have the prompts to contend with.

Ok, that is not it either. I tried #2 which bypassed the message and gave me the beep tone to leave a message. #7 did nothing. I tried all the #x combinations and the only one was #8 which said please enter your parties extension or press x(I forgot the #) to dial by name.

I just was looking at the TVS50 subscriber manual at the quick reference. it says that the #x commands can be used any time during system prompts. I am looking for a command to get back to the custom service menu AFTER the system prompt when you are in the no answer message. That is why the #2 and #7 are not working. It seems I have to do what I said before, and that is rerecord the system prompts to say we are not here, press 1 to leave a message or * to return to the main menu and then when they press one just record the away message to say please leave your message after the beep. This will eliminate the default prompt. That is, of course, unless you can think of something else.

Thanks

how about a covering ext that would at least get you back to a live voice!

I thought I had this solved, but it does not seem to work. Under COS settings, there is a setting that says "Play System prompt after personal greeting". It is set to no. I set it to yes, but it still plays the system prompt before the personal greeting. Am I misunderstanding what this setting is for? Or do I have to set something else as well?

Thanks...
