Hi guys

I have searched the forum and the avaya site for a direct answer for this for the past few days.

Question is. Can you upgrade the voicemail pro directly to release 10 from 8.0

Most of the answers seem to be saying you can go from 9.0 to 10

So do I have to do an intermediate step from 8 to 9 first then to 10.

Looking for some help regarding this.

I have a upgrade to do soon and just looking for reassurance regarding the upgrade.trying to save some time as I also have the ipo to upgrade from 8.0 to 10 as well.

thankyou.

Have you tried reading the release notes for R10 ?

They state which steps are needed.

janni is right it is in the release notes.
It should be in the TechBulletins that are released with every maintenance release but everything is in there but the Preferred upgrades
I lose the call flows every time even if I follow the steps to upgrade from lower releases to the current ones so make sure the last line here has been taken care of. :)

Upgrade Instructions for IP Office Preferred Edition
IP Office Preferred Edition (VoiceMail Pro) 10.0.0.0 Build 550 installer will automatically detect the previous build and upgrade automatically. It is always advisable to back up the configuration, and any bespoke voice files prior to performing the upgrade. In addition, for a successful install or upgrade (from any 9.X to latest R10.0) of the Windows version of Voicemail Pro, please install all Windows updates first in order to obtain the latest WinTrust.dll on your machine. This is needed to verify the SHA256 certificate used by the Voicemail Pro installer. A backup of Voicemail Pro data should be done prior to any Major (first time 10.0) upgrade on Windows platform.
Prior to upgrading the Preferred Edition Server to 10.0.0.0 build 550, please ensure that all applications running on the PC are closed. The upgrade process will retain all the customer configuration, mailbox data and registry settings.

Warning: In all cases, always backup all application data to a separate location before upgrading.

Hi westi, janni78

Yes I have read this..but that's my problem I can't seem to understand it correctly..mental block[ponder]

I have read this but does that mean it can go from 8 to 10 directly.
My mind won't decipher it properly.

Yes I will also make sure I have a backup as I have had the odd maintenance visit to sites were the modules have disappeared.
The backup had to be used.

Thanks for the help.

You can go from 9.0 or 9.1 to 10 for the 8.0 you need to look into the upgrade path from 8.0 to the version of 9.x you use as interim version.
So in short you need a step between 8.0 and 10 and the Wintrust.dll is important otherwise the upgrade to 10 will fail.

Thank you Westi

That's exactly what I was looking for.

I had already decided in my mind I would do a 2 step upgrade to be safe.
8 to 9.0 then 10

It may take a few hours but hopefully it will go well.

Once again thanks for the reply.
Star for you.

snowman50, you must miss the Bcm's upgrades...i do!

Hello gberger..a blast from the past.

Yes I do miss the bcm upgrades..they seem to be a bit more simpler.
I think because the bcm professional voicemail was internal to the system it was done at the same time.

But to be fair the ipo is quite a good system..I have stared to really like it.
It boots up so fast compared to the bcm....

The voicemail pro is really good...you can do so much with it.

Like everything it's just learning the little tips & tricks to make things easier .

20 years of doing BCMs and 3 years of ipo. I have a lot of catching up to do.
Just starting to do server edition now .....

Nice hearing from you. Looks like your in the same boat as me...a new adventure has started[flush2]

Thanks for the star snowman and second star provider.
it should not take that long to upgrade. Once downloaded (hopefully from a USB harddrive) it should be about 10 - 15 minutes per upgrade but you might want to do all windows updates prior to going to site to ensure the Wintrust.dll is correct.
I actually have a copy of the Wintrust.dll on my USB so if in a hurry I just rename the original and copy the new one over, done :)

then uploading the call flows again because they will most likely vanish and you should be done.

Good luck with it

Ops my fault..classic mistake [banghead]
Should have stated..this is Linux vmpro.
Application server on a PC.

We don't do Windows versions and I never thought about saying that.

That's why my upgrade will be longer.

Don't forget to backup the MDB file and WAV files if your using modules. Just went through this upgrade and it wiped out all the modules.
I even saved the VM folder as a precaution.

The end is 4 days away!
