Hello All,

This is a weird problem and I am not even sure where to start troubleshooting.

I received a report that one in every five or so voice messages for this user and several other users are 'static' but it actually sounds more like a machine gun.

It is not from the same caller but different callers.

Attached the wav file to this post - The beginning of wav file is end users voice which she recorded when she forwarded the voicemail to my extension - after she stops talking you can hear the machine guns.

Ideas? Troubleshooting steps? All input is appreciated. Thanks

I am using IP Office 9.0 / Voicemail Pro 9.0 build 311 / It is installed on the UC Mod -_-

Voicemail is in Ip Office mode not intuity.

We have cox PRI lines going direct to IPO (not sure if that matters)

That sounds so much like a skip. Like if someone were to be playing a dirty CD and it skipped over and over rapidly.

Have you shut down, unseated and reseated the UC Module?
Checked to see if this UC is on the recall list?
I have seen something close to this that was backplane related. Maybe try relocating the UC to a different slot
Reimage the UC with the latest ISO file
If all else fails after those, replace the UC Module

Thanks for your detailed response I appreciate it. I will check on these things.

I would try an upgrade to SP1 first.
Although Avaya says they only did some internal test, there is something fixed (and broken) in the SP1 release.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I can upgrade via web manager or do I need to do the iso flash again?

I recently flashed it in December with the latest release.

Shouldn't have to, upgrade using the web interface.

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

While upgrading via web interface will the voicemail be offline?

As in should I plan to do this after hours?

Thanks

You should.
It takes some time.
If you never done it before i suggest doing this on a test system first.

Was there ever a resolution to this problem?

I'm having the exact same issue, except I'm using IPO Server Edition with the latest release of Voicemail Pro version 9.0.2.0 build 41.

We just upgraded from SP1 and are still having the issue. It's on random messages. Could be internal, external, coming in on a POTS line or on our PRI.

The strangest part is that once in a while if you listen to the message again, the machine gun noise will not play and the message plays back fine. Any ideas?

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Yes the patch I received from Avaya T4 fixed the issue.
It is exactly as you described - problem isnt always present, it is during message playback and the same message will sound just fine when accessed again.

Here is the patch info: VMPRo_9.0.9.311 Hopefully you will be able to get it easily. I did have to create a service request. I do not know if the FW is the same for server edition as it was for the UC module. You can reference my ticket when you create a case: 1-5046597773.
