Have a customer with IP500v2 R7.0.31 and Appliance server running one-X Portal and Voicemail PRO (latest 7.0.16.11) that the voicemail service stops at least once a day if not twice.

I can manage the Linux appliances fairly well, but I'm no whiz at them. I don't know what I should do first to troubleshoot it. The customer has just been resetting the server physically. I have no remote access to the system which makes it a pain in the a$$.

Do they have voice questions in the call flow?
If they do then it probably happens when a call hit the voice question.
I have had this bug and Avaya fixed it for 8.0
I never tried it on 7.0!

No there aren't any voice questions in the call flows. They don't even use an automated attendant during the daytime hours, just voicemail for users.

Then i have a slight idea that leaving a message in the mailbox does do the trick.
Can you try this:

1 leave a message and hangup (does it stop working)
2 leave a message and press # and hang up (does it stop then)

Then your only option is setting "debug" to "verbose"
Then when it happens then download the logs and analyze them.

An update:
System has been up for about 1 week with no problems until this morning. My contact onsite had tried to login to the webcontrol of the server and keeps getting a popup with a message: timeout

The one-x Portal seems to be still running, but voicemail does not. I was going to have him login to the webcontrol to see if it shows voicemail service as stopped and have him try to restart it though there...but he couldn't login. You can get to the webcontrol page to login just fine.

Had to reset the server to get voicemail back

What kind of server is it?
Is it virtual or not?
How much memory?
What processor is in it?

Can you give me as much details as you can please.
This seems to be an issue with the server and not the software.

It's a custom box - Supermicro
8GB RAM
Xeon Quad-core 2.4Ghz

Should be plenty of horsepower.

I have another just like it installed at another customer site running voicemail and one-X Portal, but I don't think they use one-x much. Even this one that is having issues, when I have check it there aren't very many users logged into one-xp (at least the sessions shown are usually low - around 10 to 15 at the highest.

That should do the trick easy.
You really should get remote access for at least SSH.
You then can check if the services are still running and kick them if needed.
You should not need to reboot the whole server.

I have the same problem with VMpro 8.0.1009 on linux ... Intermittent the services stop (2-3 time a day). All is up to date since yesterday at last release and the problem is there. So I remote monitor the voicemail service and I restart manualy.

Any solution ?
