Hi,

First of all let me say that I really love this forum. You guys are really helpfull.

Here's my latest problem.

Server A is primary VM. Server B is a backup system.

When connecting to server A today with Voicemail Pro Client, I can see that it says in the top right corner "Backup voicemail" (or something like that, I'm using french version).

I looked around and found out that a fault was encountered during the night and Server A had to restart VM services. Server B took control of VM services. So far so good.

So I told myself "well I just need to do a manual failback and server A will regain primary control of VM services."

I then stop Voicemail service on Server B webcontrol.

Now voicemail are still working (so Server A is working) but I still can't do any changes in VoiceMail Pro Client because it still say "Backup Voicemail". I did restarted VoiceMail Pro Client on my desktop.

Why is that ?

Log out and log back in. It should give you a choice of servers to log into.

@budbyrd Thanks for the input, but that was not it.

I did restarted the VoiceMail Pro Client, so I did logged out and logged in.

Just to make sure, I did tried it again (Log Out, Log In) but it still say "Backup Voicemail" in the upper right corner, and everything is in read-only mode.

So in short : The only voicemail server currently up is the primary, but Voicemail Pro think it's the backup.

I double-checked the system settings in manager (Voicemail tab) and indeed server A is primary and Server B is backup.

Did you hit the 'browse' button when you logged in to see all the available servers? When you log in it should pop up a box that allows you to choose the server you want to login to.

I'd restart the backup voicemail on System B. Its probably some signalling between the two that has to complete before the primary retakes full control. You can also use System Status to tell the primary that its in control.

What software release?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I understood the number to be 3 minutes though I believe it is closer to 60 seconds.
Make sure that the real backup vmpro server has its service stopped for a few minutes.
You should see the primary loose the upper right notification and simply become a normal local logged in vmpro computer.
Then restart the backup vmpro service.

If at r8.1 you can choose to auto failback and select how long in seconds before it failsback.

To be sure stop the service of the backup vm server and restart the service of the main vm server.
Then wait a couple of minutes and then start the service of the back vm server.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I tried your solutions one after the other and it turns out that @tlpeter had the one I needed.

Restarting the main vm server while the backup was down it the way to go.
